Onyeka Oduh is a multidisciplinary artist BASED IN Toronto.
Onyeka Oduh is an award-winning black, trans-queer filmmaker and artist based in Toronto. Focused in screenwriting, directing and digital illustration, their work is an ephemeral representation of how they see the world.
Consistent themes in their film work include coming of age, queerness, identity, and music as a shaper of stories and characters. They enjoy writing campy and kitschy stories that put BIPOC, queer, and trans characters at the forefront. They have had films premiere at festivals in Canada and Europe, including Blood In The Snow Film Festival, Toronto Queer Film Festival, TIFF Next Wave Film Festival.
Onyeka is currently a working script coordinator and Story editor as part of the Writer's Guild Of Canada. Past credits include: Peabody award-winning CBC/HBO Max comedy "Sort Of" and CSA-nominated CBC Dramedy "Moonshine".Onyeka has also gained industry television experience through their work as an Assistant Production Coordinator in Entertainment One's Canadian television production department.
Their illustrative work has been featured on CBC Arts and as a part of CBC Toronto’s Proud to Shine campaign and has created works for It Gets Better Canada, The Kitsch Generation, Summer Of Love Club etc.
When they’re not writing, crocheting, or doing karaoke, Onyeka co-runs The Kitsch Generation, a trans-led film and media production company that prioritizes trans, queer, and BIPOC representation in front of and behind the camera.
